LGBTQ+ Spaces

Hudson County is home to great local LGBT bars and restaurants that are a fantastic way to spend an evening and feel a sense of camaraderie with other patrons. Club Six 26 is the perfect place to go for drinks and dancing, and they host a phenomenal drag brunch every weekend, so be sure to get your reservations early! On the other side of the coin is local hot spot Pint! A Jersey City staple since 1911, they have dozens of craft beers on tap and host bingo and trivia nights every week.

While Hudson County hosts Pride Events during June every year with the rest of the country, they also do something special.  They host a Hudson County specific pride month in August with lots of local events and appearances from LGBT entertainers. This special pride month let’s members of the community celebrate twice.  For visitors wanting to attend either pride month in Hudson County, or events in NYC during June, there are tons of affordable hotels nearby to the action. Hudson County is considered by many to be one of the most diverse places in the county, and for good reason. Here that diversity is celebrated, and the LGBT community is certainly a part of that celebration. Hudson County was one of the first counties to raise the rainbow flag for pride month! With events being hosted all year by organizations like Hudson Pride, and multiple great spots to relax and unwind, it’s clear that Pride really isn’t just for June, it’s 365 days a year.

Resources

Hudson County has worked hard to make itself a welcoming presence for the LGBT community, and it has succeeded. According to the Human Rights Campaign’s Municipality Equality Index, which measures how inclusive a city’s municipal laws, policies and services are of the LGBT people who live and work there, both Jersey City and Hoboken got perfect scores, 100 out of a possible 100 points.

In an effort to help support and lift up the members of the LGBT community, listed below are resources for anyone who may be struggling with physical or mental health issues as a result of their sexual or gender identity. It is our sincere wish that these resources will help people connect with other members of the community in their area, as well as allow people to learn about pride events being held locally in Hudson County.
