The Jersey City Heights were already a hot food neighborhood and Jersey City was already a pizza destination. Then James Beard Award semifinalist Rick Easton brought his Roman-style pizza and smorgasbord of baked goods to the neighborhood from Pittsburgh — earning a rave New York Times review and the requisite long lines. The bakery has opted for a preorder and pickup system during the pandemic, preparing focaccia, cookies, bomboloni, and of course, pizza. The crostata with New Jersey blueberries is on par with some of the best blueberry pie out there, and their sorbets from Superiority Burger in the East Village are a can’t-miss.
