Hamilton Arts Festival | Playwright Showcase – Covenant Farm
August 9, 2025 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
$5
Excitement is in the air! Get ready to be part of something extraordinary at Paterson Performing Arts Development Council‘s 2025 Hamilton Arts Festival (HAF). Join us for our Playwright Showcase, a staged reading of the dramatic play Covenant Farm written by Brigid Amos and directed by Anne DeMalo. It’s an event like no other, and we want you to be there!
Amos’ Covenant Farm is loosely based on the writer’s own experiences as an apprentice on a biodynamic farm in Campeche, California in the early 90s. The play tells the story of a struggle among three women over the fate of a communal organic farm that is set off when a legal agreement resurfaces. It forces them to reevaluate their life choices. Covenant Farm explores the conflict between following a passion and seeking financial security.
Now in its fifth season, the festival runs from August 7 through August 23. The 2025 HAF lineup includes film screenings, spoken word artist showcase, theatrical productions, and more. HAF is designed to promote and showcase the works of underrepresented artists in the performing arts and other disciplines. HAF is made possible with funds from the Passaic County Cultural & Heritage Council, a partner of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
Since inception, PPADC has taken great pride in presenting wide ethnic, cultural, and gender diversity. The PPADC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is on a mission to support new and accomplished artists in developing new works and to offer cultural events to communities in Paterson, NJ.
